Agape Community Center has successfully served the community since its inception in 1986. As Agape looked to the new millennium the need for a new facility became apparent. A building was needed that would house all of our programs and services under one roof and allow us to grow and expand.
In May 1999 Agape purchased a two-acre parcel of land at 6100 North 42nd Street from the City of Milwaukee Housing Authority on which to construct a community center. This property is conveniently located in the heart of Berryland, a subsidized Milwaukee neighborhood. Agape moved into its new community center in September 2000.
The 18,000 square foot, two-story building features a commercial kitchen, a dining facility that also serves as a recreation center, a family resource center, youth activity rooms, technology center, conference room, and administrative offices. The building is handicap accessible with an elevator and plenty of convenient parking. It is conveniently located near several bus routes.
In addition to meeting Agape's present and future needs, the community center provides a much-needed focal point and safe place within the neighborhood.
