Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital has been enhanced to safely accommodate bariatric surgery patients in a comfortable, home-like environment.
“I couldn't have asked for a better bariatric team. I am grateful for the all-encompassing approach Ministry's bariatric team takes to weight loss surgery,” shared Sarah Fehr, recent bariatric patient. “I feel very fortunate to work with a team that not only values their patients, but education before and after surgery.”
In November 2013, Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital made a variety of critical amendments for bariatric surgery patients including the redesign of two patient rooms.
“I always felt like I was patient and priority number one,” said Fehr. “Another unexpected 'plus' about the surgery was that my room was a newly remodeled suite designed exclusively for bariatric patient recovery. I enjoyed a comfy bed with a window view, a bariatric chair with room to spare, lots of closet space, a spacious restroom with shower, and a flat-screen wall-mounted television that helped pass the time while I was recuperating. The room also afforded my visitors/family plenty of room to sit comfortably.”
Today Sarah is feeling good and down 46 lbs. from the day of surgery. She says she still has a way to go, but 46 lbs. feels like a great start.
“I'm wearing clothes I haven't worn in years, and already people are noticing a difference in me. I'm also off of two medications I was taking up until surgery, so that's wonderful,” added Sarah.
