My Great Reason would be my 2 year old son. I recently went back to college to get a better education for a career. I hope to get a very financially stable job so I can save up for school and college for him. I have been thinking of getting the bariatric surgery for awhile. My mom had it when she was around my age and she is now 56 and still in a smaller size. I decided my Great Reason would be to be there for my very energetic 2 year old. I want to be able to run after him without having to stop to catch my breath. I also want this surgery because my dad just had a quadruple bypass and I fear I may have a health problem in the future because of my weight.

I am 7 years post-RNY and it was so easy once I got past 6 weeks post-op. I exercised daily, faithfully drank my water and followed the plan. I really had no choice. But as time wore on, my pouch could tolerate more (even though I still get dumping syndrome, thankfully). After about 3 years, I hit a plateau and began to gain. I became very conscious of what I was eating again and managed to lose 30 lbs in the past year and am back down to where my lowest was again! The tool makes it a little easier to diet than the normal person this many years out, but not the advantage it was when I was a newbie. My advice is to really avoid your trigger foods at all costs. Don't look back at them. I won't even LOOK at a certain ice cream at the store seriously!
