Spiritual Services professionals at Ministry Health Care provide spiritual and emotional needs to our patients and families. Founded by the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother in the late 1800’s, it is Ministry’s mission as a Catholic health care system to further the healing ministry of Jesus by continually improving the health and well being of all people, especially the poor, in the communities we serve. As a faith based hospital system, our mission and values are perpetuated through all of our employees and into our communities. Our four core values of Vision, Justice, Presence, and Service all are exemplified by our Ministry Health Care Fund, which provides monies back into our communities for a variety of programs and services through a community assets and needs assessment process. From diabetes management programs to blood pressure screenings to free clinics that provide care for the uninsured and underinsured, Ministry Health Care is reaching out to those in need because that is Our Promise.
Our spiritual services department helps further our mission by providing Spiritual Service needs of all faiths and a spiritual presence to not only our patients but our staff as well. Services offered include prayer, baptism (in emergency situations), sacramental needs, Anointing the Sick, and providing referrals to clerics of all religions. The importance of Spiritual Services within Ministry Health Care began through the Sisters over 125 years ago and continues to have a strong presence in our continued tradition yet today.
