Ministry North Shore Medical Clinic-Algoma Welcomes Dr. Nate Hayes

Ministry North Shore Medical Clinic is pleased to announce that Dr. Nate Hayes, D.O. is moving his practice from Sturgeon Bay to Algoma. Dr. Hayes provides family practice care for patients of all ages. He joins Katie Knipfer, PA, who has been serving the Algoma community for two years.

“It’s a great opportunity to be able to work in a new environment,” says Hayes, who considers preventative care his passion. “I’m a ‘do as I do’ kind of guy,” he says, referring to his active lifestyle and his efforts in Sturgeon Bay to inspire people to get fit during his weekly “Walk with Dr. Nate” workouts. “I was really proud to see forty people on some days come out and walk with me.” Dr. Hayes hopes to have the same positive impact on the Algoma community.

Knipfer, who emphasizes integrative medicine in her practice, shares Hayes’ passion for exercise and healthy diet. She enjoys yoga, running and teaching group fitness classes at the YMCA. She is also an avid gardener and advocate for simple, whole foods. “The foods that we eat shape our lives, and I enjoy sharing that approach with my patients.” She is excited to be working with her new colleague. “We have the same vision of health care: prevention and wellness based,” she says.

Both providers are enthusiastic about community outreach. “It’s an essential part of what we do,” says Dr. Hayes. Adds Knipfer, “It’s a great way to reach more people and teach about the basics of good health. We want to empower people to take charge of their own health. People have a lot of power over their health outcomes.”

Knipfer will host the next presentation in the clinic’s Healthy Living Series titled “Sneezes, Coughs and Colds…Oh My!” Her talk will focus on keeping the whole family healthy during cold and flu season and will include a tasting of super immune strengthening foods. The free presentation takes place on November 1 at 6 p.m. at the Algoma Clinic.

MNSMC’s Algoma Clinic has a full staff, and appointments are also available with doctors of pediatrics, orthopedics, rheumatology, and OB/GYN. Dr. Hayes is accepting new patients.
