Osteofit Program

For women with osteopenia and osteoporosis to improve bone health

Door County YMCA and Ministry Door County Medical Center unite to offer an Osteofit program for women who have a diagnosis of osteopenia and those who already have the diagnosis of osteoporosis. Participants will strengthen muscles and bones, which may help prevent fractures. Participants will engage in a holistic approach to bone health, which will include presentations from a range of medical disciplines, and how they how they relate to a person with bone health issues. Participants will also be instructed on how to use exercise equipment; balance, stretching, and postural exercises; lower abdominal strength; and educational modules. Due to the various stages in the disease and the physical activity involved in this program, a doctor’s medical clearance form will be required for participant’s safety.

 

Six week program includes:

  • Educational modules on osteopenia and osteoporosis
  • Presentations from medical disciplines
  • Instruction and participation in the “BEST” workout program

1:30-2:30pm MWF
Class held at Door County YMCA Sturgeon Bay Program Center
$180 for general public - $80 for YMCA members - class size is limited
