Women’s & Children’s Health Center

The Women’s and Children’s Health Center provides comprehensive and accessible health care for women and their families within the campus of Ministry Door County Medical Center. Located on the second floor of the hospital, women can come to the Center to have physical examinations, antepartum care, breast health care, bone densitometry, and specialized women-centered physical therapy and massage. Care for children is also provided in the Center in our special pediatric area. The Center is a place where a woman’s soul can be nourished and cared for. The atmosphere is like a spa - calm and serene. The furniture is designed for women with fluffy pillows and ottomans. While a woman and those who accompany her wait for her various appointments, they can read poetry or essays from the Center’s collection of books. They can enjoy the beautiful collection of art from local artists while listening to atmospheric music including jazz, classical, and women vocalists. The bathrooms are stocked with organic soaps and lotions provided by a local organic skin products company and with soft, fluffy towels. It is the attention paid to the whole woman that makes this Center so unique.

The Children’s Center was developed to make children feel excited and comfortable with their health care experience. From the bright colors of the walls, the fun exam tables built just for kids, a giant salt water aquarium, and a chalk board for pre and post appointment creativity, and bright visual art, children are welcomed the minute they walk through the doors. Televisions are not allowed, but books, coloring books, chalk and imaginative toys abound. Children centered art work from local artists include a giant, constant motion mobile, handmade Mexican dolls and life size photos of children at play.
