The largest Ministry Door County Medical Center construction project ever is underway.
The 31,080 square foot two-story addition, being attached to the north side of the existing Sturgeon Bay hospital facility, will include on the second level 28 private rooms for medical/surgical, intensive care, birthing and women's inpatient health.
The new Emergency Department, on the first level, will have 8 private treatment rooms. In addition there will be centralized nursing areas, andd enhanced visitor amenities.
The $20.5 million project is scheduled for comlpetion in the late summer of 2010. It will replace a portion of an aging hospital facility built in 1964.
The inpatient services/Emergency Department addition culminates updates MDCMC/MHC has undertaken since 2003. MDCMC/MHC built a new Surgery Center in 2003, the Door County Cancer Center in 2005 and, most recently, opened the Women's and Children's Health Center in 2007.
