Hospital Nurses Donate to Vilas Food Pantry
(EAGLE RIVER, WI) – Nurses from Ministry Eagle River Memorial Hospital (MERMH) donated a Trig’s Grocery gift card worth $75 to the Vilas Food Pantry. Trig’s generously donated an additional 20 percent to the worthy cause.
The inpatient staff was awarded a certificate of excellence, and the gift certificates, from their peers and chose to donate the funds to the Vilas Food Pantry.
“Ministry Eagle River Memorial Hospital believes in the Vilas Food Pantry’s mission to feed those in need and felt strongly about providing this gift,” said MERMH Nurse Manager Cate Wilson. “Our hope is that our donation can assist in raising awareness of the terrific work the pantry does for our community.”
The purpose of the Vilas Food Pantry is to assure that people in need in the service area are able to receive quality food in a caring respectful environment. They try to provide a variety of foods including meat, canned goods, and fresh produce in a store-like setting.
The Vilas Food Pantry is a not-for-profit organization that provides food twice a month or on an emergency basis to those who meet certain income requirements. They are operated by volunteers from the community. The pantry is located at 1013 N. Railroad St. in Eagle River, next to the Kalmar Senior Center. The Vilas Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 8:30 – 10 a.m., and on the first and third Tuesday from 3:30 - 5:15 p.m.
