Patients who have been cared for at Ministry Eagle River Memorial Hospital (MERMH) and Howard Young Medical Center (HYMC) rated the radiology departments at each facility above the 90th percentile according to recent NRC Picker scores.
NRC Picker, a patient satisfaction survey company contracted by MERMH and HYMC, mails surveys to patients that have had health care services provided to them, and asks questions regarding the competency, helpfulness and respect demonstrated by personnel.
“At Ministry Eagle River Memorial Hospital and Howard Young Medical Center, our goal is to be in the top 10 percent (at the 90th percentile or better) of hospitals across the nation in patient satisfaction,” said Rebecca Morin, Vice President of Patient Care Services. “The Eagle River and Howard Young radiology departments have consistently met or exceeded this goal over the past two years. This is an outstanding achievement and something we are very proud of.”
NRC Picker’s patient-centered quality measurement and improvement tools are used by all types and sizes of hospitals throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia.
“Keeping the patient first is our number one priority,” said Morin. “Our radiology technologists are very respectful and responsive to the needs, wants and values of each patient, and this was captured in our NRC Picker scores.”
Patient-centered care engages the patient and his or her family, every step of the way. Ministry believes that caregivers, regardless of rank or station, must be respectful and responsive to the needs, wants and values of the patient and family.
“We believe focusing on patient-centeredness is of critical importance for caregivers. The education and best practices around patient-centered care can be the critical healing differential for patients,” said Morin. “At Howard Young Medical Center and Ministry Eagle River Memorial Hospital, the radiology staff is committed to providing excellent radiological care to ensure patients have the best possible outcomes.”
