Health Talk: Stress Management and Coping Exercises
The May Health Talk presented by Flambeau Hospital will feature speaker Mike Wade, Occupational Therapist, discussing stress management and coping exercises. This presentation will be a fun discussion with a self-assessment exercise and a stress test. Come to this health talk to decide if you will enjoy the rest of 2010 or will you need that Hawaiian vacation! Wade has given several talks about stress management and has lead several support groups on fibromyalgia, pain and stress.
Some stress is normal and even useful. Stress can help if you need to work hard or react quickly. For example, it can help you win a race or finish an important job on time. But, if stress happens too often or lasts too long, it can have bad effects. It can be linked to headaches, upset stomach, back pain and/or trouble sleeping. It can weaken your immune system, making it harder to fight off disease. If you already have a health problem stress may make it worse. It can make you moody, tense or depressed. Your relationships may suffer and you may not do as well at work or school.
Health Talks is a monthly feature offered free to the community by Flambeau Hospital. Presented at 5:30 pm in both Park Falls and Phillips, this months talk will be held in Park Falls on Tuesday, May 18 in the Flambeau Hospital Murphy Administration building classroom 1 and in Phillips on Thursday, May 20 in the conference room at Flambeau Home Health and Hospice.
A different topic is chosen each month and presented by an experienced health professional. For more information please feel free to contact Kathy Klein, Community and Business Development manager for Flambeau Hospital at 715-762-7575.
