Good Samaritan Foundation Board Welcomes New Members

Two members of the Merrill Community have joined the Good Samaritan Health Center Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Judy Buchler and Bill Heideman are the newest members of the sixteen member board responsible for oversight of the Foundation whose mission is to promote and support the mission of Good Samaritan Health Center of furthering the healing ministry of Jesus by continually improving the health and well being of all people, especially the poor in the communities we serve.

Buchler spent 33 years on the nursing staff at Good Samaritan Health Center, retiring in 2006 after serving as Vice-President of Patient Care. “I am excited to join this effort to support Good Samaritan Health Center and its mission,” said Buchler.

Heideman, who serves as the City Clerk of Merrill is a lifelong resident of the community. “I became a member of the Foundation board for the opportunity to serve the community and help those in need,” he said.

“We are delighted to have Judy and Bill join the ranks of our foundation board,” said Foundation Director Kathy Brecke. “They will provide valuable insight and support as the Good Samaritan Foundation continues its efforts to address health needs in our community.”

In addition to adding new members, two members of the Foundation Board completed their terms in 2009. Ramona Hornischer was a member for nine years and Wally Smith for six.

“Ramona and Wally have been dedicated supporters of our Foundation and we thank them for their contributions to our organization,” said Good Samaritan Health Center President Michael Hammer.

The Good Samaritan Health Center Foundation was founded in 1985. In collaboration with Good Samaritan Health Center, the Foundation identifies health needs, and through philanthropy, sponsors programs/services and partners with others to help shape the quality and availability of health care and enhance the health and well-being of all people in Merrill and the surrounding communities.

Other board members include Brian Arndorfer, Assistant Vice President, Church Mutual Insurance; Jan Bares, Co-Owner, Lincoln Lanes; Gene Bebel, retired administrator, Merrill Area Public Schools ;Rich Dabbert, retired Merrill Police Department; Jennifer Heitz, Good Samaritan Health Center volunteer ; Craig Lau, president, Lincoln Community Bank, Sherry Kleinschmidt, owner, Thelma’s; Linda Murray, owner, Murray & Associates; Jeff Peterson, Senior Living Specialist, Church Mutual Insurance; Lynne Reindl, Vice President - Reindl Printing; Rob Russell, attorney, Russell Law Office.

Over the past three years, the Good Samaritan Foundation provided more than $60,000 to Merrill area agencies to support operations that are consistent with the foundations mission and vision. The announcement of 2010 allocations will be made in January.
