Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center Plans Healthy Week Activities

The Merrill Area Healthy Lifestyle Network (MAHLN) is once again sponsoring a week of activities to raise awareness in Merrill of the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

The fourth annual “Be Healthy Week” will be held April 10-16 and MAHLN and its supporting organizations encourage everyone in the Merrill community to participate in some way. Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center will be sponsoring the following activities as a part of Be Healthy Week.

Sunday, April 10: Healthy You: Yoga for Body, Mind and Heart

1-4 p.m., Ministry Good Samaritan –Menard Center 2nd Floor

What is optimal health from a yoga perspective? Join us to learn more about how to use the tools of Yoga to maintain a strong back, optimal joint health, balance, a focused mind, good energy, sound sleep, and a calm but happy disposition. This session will focus on short home practices for wellness. Chair options will be offered for those who can't be on their knees. Registration is required and space is limited. Call 715.539.5090 before April 8 to register. The workshop will be facilitated by Certified Viniyoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist Mary Hilliker of River Flow Yoga who has over 12 years of teaching experience. Beginners are welcome to attend.

Monday, April 11 - Healthy Eating: Quick and Easy

6:30 p.m. Ministry Good Samaritan Cafeteria.

Kari Mizgalski, clinical dietician with Ministry Health Care will discuss quick and easy ways to make meals more nutritious. Includes prize drawings. This free program is offered in collaboration with MAHLN Weight Loss Challenge, advanced registration is not required.

Wednesday, April 13 -Focus on Wellness

6 p.m. T.B. Scott Library in Merrill

Nationally recognized speaker Anita Scandurra, Wellness/Health Promotion Coordinator at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield and Peter Throm, Gress Chiropractic in Merrill. This powerful session explores the Integrated Wellness model, a “whole person” approach to life that assists you in achieving your personal goals by living well! Achieving Wellness=Living Well focuses on choices in all the wellness dimensions and the deep rooted qualities of spiritual wellness that significantly improve the quality of your life, your overall health, and sense of self.
