Strong Women Program in Merrill Expands Again
Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center in cooperation with the Lincoln County UW-Extension Office is once again offering Strong Women, an eight-week exercise program specifically designed for middle-aged and older adults.
Starting the week of September 10th, Strong Women will be offered in three different sessions. Each session meets two days per week and runs through the end of October. A third program time is being added to this falls schedule as the result of demand for the program.
Strong Women is an evidence based strength and exercise program designed to increase muscle mass and strength, improve bone density and reduce risk for osteoporosis and related fractures. In addition, participants will also reduce the risk for diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, depression and obesity by living a more healthy and active lifestyle.
The next session of Strong Women classes in Merrill will begin in September and will be held in Menard Center on the Campus of Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center.
Afternoon sessions will run from 1-2 p.m. on Monday and Thursdays. Evening sessions run from 5:30-6:30 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday and a new morning session will run from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday and Friday’s. New participants are asked to participate in a required orientation program on Thursday, September 6 at 5:30 p.m.
Cost for the program is $25 and advanced registration is requested by calling the Lincoln County UW-Extension Office at 715.539.1074. Additional support for Strong Women is provided by the Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center Foundation.
