When your child is seriously ill or severely injured, it is an extremely frightening experience for a parent. During those times, it’s comforting to know that there is expert pediatric care at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in Marshfield.
Ministry Saint Joseph’s Children’s is the only medical center in central Wisconsin that offers specialized intensive care exclusively for seriously injured or critically ill children and adolescents. The award-winning Level I, eight-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit provides the highest level of intensive care to its young patients.
Ministry Saint Joseph’s Children’s PICU is staffed 24 hours a day by pediatric intensivists, pediatric critical care nurses, respiratory therapists, pediatric specialists in cardiology, trauma, orthopedics, gastroenterology, nephrology, oncology and neurology and contains specialized monitoring equipment to care for young patients.
In addition to the PICU staff, Child Life Services is available to help young patients understand procedures, and when possible, Child Life staff accompany children to tests and procedures.
Parents wanting to stay near their hospitalized child can stay at the Ronald McDonald House in Marshfield while their child receives expert critical care from Ministry Saint Joseph’s Children’s Hospital.
