Tart Cherry-Berry Crunch
Since cherries are known to have anti-inflammatory properties, this recipe may be a sweet way to ease pain.
Servings 6

2 cups frozen pitted tart cherries
1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
1 green apple, cored and diced
1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1-1/2 T cornstarch
1/2 cup unsweetened cherry juice
Nonstick cooking spray 

1/4 cup steel cut rolled oats
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
2 T whole wheat pastry flour
2 T olive oil
1/4 teaspoon iodized salt (optional) 

Preheat oven to 400°F. In a bowl, toss together the cherries, berries, apple, brown sugar and almond extract.

In a cup, mix the cornstarch and juice and add to the fruit mixture, stirring well. Pour the mixture into an 8-inch-square baking dish sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.

Mix together the remaining ingredients. Crumble the mixture on top of the fruit.

Bake 30 minutes. Broil 1-2 minutes to lightly brown topping.
