Summer 2013

On the cover:

“Hanging Garden” is an original pastel painted and generously provided by Susan Klabak.

Susan Klabak lives and maintains an art studio in Wild Rose, Wisconsin. Working almost exclusively in soft pastels, the subjects of her landscape paintings are usually found within a 25-mile radius of her home.

"When I look at the beauty of the world around me, I am stirred deep within by a reverential awe for the Creator and our sense of responsibility to care for this world. The farms, fields and wooded areas that are often the subjects of my paintings are rapidly being gobbled up by development. It brings me great joy to place colorful marks on paper that represent a particular time and place. Rather than create a literal interpretation of the landscape, I am more interested in expressing the mood or emotion evoked by a scene. If the viewer is stirred by a memory or emotion or perhaps a new way of relating to the rural landscape, then I have achieved my goal."

Klabak is represented by the Jura Silverman Gallery in Spring Green, Wisconsin, The Hang Up Gallery of Fine Art in Neenah, Wisconsin and the Jack Richeson Gallery in Kimberly, Wisconsin.
