The positive side of technology in health care
We would be remiss if we did not also look at the positive side of technology. With its advance, we have access to effective treatments, less-invasive surgical procedures, better diagnostic testing and comprehensive reporting. For instance, MRI results can be sent to the radiologist, the health care provider and consulting physicians simultaneously. The images can be easily enlarged for closer examination or comparison.
Technology promotes research, provides faster communication between health care providers, and allows technologically advanced care at accident sites and during transportation.
Health care providers are able to monitor patient conditions at a glance, which allows them to change care procedures quickly to minimize complications.
While we have focused on the negative aspects of technology that may cause family, financial or health problems, we should be thankful for the technological advances that have and will continue to make our lives easier.
