WOODRUFF, WI—The Partners of Eagle River Memorial Hospital Auxiliary recently donated $50,000 to the Howard Young Foundation toward the purchase of a new ambulance.
According to Roderick Brodhead, MD, Emergency Department Medical Director, Eagle River Memorial Hospital and Howard Young Medical Center, safe and reliable ambulance transportation is critical to ensuring that patients get to and receive timely hospital care. “Eagle River Memorial Hospital will retire one of the three area ambulances needed to transport patients in emergent situations and replace it with a new vehicle,” said Brodhead. “This vehicle replacement is necessary due to the age, accumulated miles and physical condition.”
“In an emergent situation, the first hour (known as the Golden Hour) of care is often the most critical,” said Brodhead. “For that reason the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel at Eagle River Memorial Hospital recently received advanced education and training to be able to provide Paramedic level services – the highest level of pre-hospital care possible.”
The Eagle River Memorial Hospital Auxiliary raises money throughout the year through sales at the hospital gift shop and the Thrift Shop in Eagle River. “Our volunteers work so hard throughout the year to raise money that is in turn donated to our community hospital,” said Pat VanAcker, President, Eagle River Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. “We are committed to Eagle River Memorial Hospital and are pleased to provide this gift to the Howard Young Foundation for a new ambulance.”
The Howard Young Foundation will continue to raise funds for the purchase of the ambulance. Gifts of any amount are encouraged and welcomed. The arrival of the ambulance is expected by late summer.
