Howard Young Birthing Center to Hold Annual Memorial Service
April 21, 2017
While every mother hopes and prays for a healthy pregnancy and birth of her baby, some pregnancies end in miscarriage or stillbirth.
The Birthing Center at Howard Young Medical Center, part of Ascension will hold its annual Memorial Service at Forest Garden Cemetery on Sunday, May 21, at 2 p.m. The service, which is open to anyone in the community will honor and bury the precious babies who were lost last year and remember all of those tiny babies who died in the past.
“Although some children may not have been named, nor held in the parent’s arms, they are always held close to the heart,” said Polly Martin, Birthing Center, RN, Howard Young Medical Center. “This event provides an opportunity to those in our community to say an important goodbye to the babies that touched many important lives.”
The non-denominational service, coordinated by the Birthing Center nursing staff will include readings, prayers and music. Parents and siblings are encouraged to share any personal poetry, letters, prayers or thoughts as part of the service.
