April 14, 2017
Howard Young Medical Center, part of Ascension, will begin Phase I of a multi-phased renovation and construction project on Monday, April 17, 2017. Work will begin on the development and extension of road access to the campus from Highway 51 on the north side of the facility. This phase of construction is expected to take four to six weeks, with planned completion by mid- to late May.
“Providing an outstanding patient experience is a priority at Howard Young,” said Sandy Anderson, president, Howard Young Medical Center. “We were determined to complete this phase of the project now so that we are ready for the height of the summer season.”
Work will begin on the development and extension of road access to the campus from Highway 51 on the north side of the facility. This work is designed to improve way-finding for patients seeking care on the campus and it also will enhance traffic flow and safety in parking areas at the dialysis center as well. In addition to road improvements, the project will include landscaping, lighting and signage enhancements.
This part of the overall plan is being funded totally by the Howard Young Foundation, which has provided funds for numerous projects for the campus over the years.
In addition to the road work project, hospital leaders have been working to advance the remaining Phase I plans that include remodeling and improvements for the campus including outpatient therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, wound therapy and the Emergency Department. Future phases of campus replacement and renovation will be determined pending the outcome of Marshfield Clinic’s proposed plan for a 12-bed hospital in Minocqua.
