Howard Young Medical Center Offers Digital Mammography Services
Howard Young Medical Center is proud to announce that digital mammography services are now offered in Woodruff.
The advantages of digital mammography include cancer detection, improved visibility of the breast tissue, less radiation exposure to the patient, improved technical efficiency, and electronic image transmission.
Digital mammograms offer improved contrast of the breast tissue. This technology is of particular benefit to women with dense breast tissue. Mammography is also used to follow up on findings from previous screenings or to evaluate a woman who has symptoms of breast disease.
“We are so pleased to now offer digital mammography services,” said Rebecca A. Morin, Vice President of Patient Care Services, Howard Young Health Care. “This transition is necessary for Howard Young Medical Center to provide the highest level of care possible for our patients, and is consistent with our goal of improving the health and well being of all people in our communities.”
Mammography screening is the single most effective method of early detection. An annual mammogram is recommended for women over 40 and a clinical examination by a health care professional should be done yearly. Women with a family history of breast cancer should also be screened.
Mammography services require an order from a physician. To schedule an appointment with a Ministry Medical Group Woodruff provider, call 715-356-8920, or see your provider of choice for an order, and call the Howard Young Medical Center Radiology Department at 715-356-8020 to schedule.
