(WOODRUFF, WI) – On June 28, Ministry Howard Young Health Care bid farewell to Howard Young Foundation, Inc. President John Lund, upon his retirement.
Lund’s association with Howard Young Medical Center (HYMC) and Ministry Eagle River Memorial Hospital began during his years working with the law firm, Lund, Harold, Danner and Cook who represented the hospital’s interests. This role eventually led to a permanent position with the hospital, functioning as the corporate legal counsel.
In this role, Lund contributed heavily to the building of the Howard Young Health Care system by bringing on Eagle River Memorial Hospital, contracting with numerous physicians, and serving as leader, and board chair, for Wood Court apartments.
Furthermore Lund’s negotiation skills, and his ability to build relationships with anyone, contributed heavily to the building of One Penny Place, the sale of Dr. Kate nursing home to Avanti Health & Rehabilitation Center, and an affiliation with Ministry Health Care.
A passion for philanthropy led Lund to the Foundation where in March 2003, he was named president of the fundraising arm of HYMC and Ministry Eagle River Memorial Hospital, a position he held until his retirement. Lund, and his Foundation team members, orchestrated significant fundraising campaigns for the hospitals.
Dozens of Ministry Howard Young Health Care associates attended a celebration at HYMC to wish Lund farewell. “There are a lot of very fond memories and I would say the best memories are the people,” he said. “I’m excited about the next part of our lives and as the old Frank Sinatra song said, the best is yet to come.”
“John was such a pleasure to work with and I’d like to thank him for his dedication and service to the Foundation, and our hospitals,” said Ministry Howard Young Health Care President Sheila Clough. “John was a valued member of our team and our community. We wish him well in retirement.”
Lund plans to stay active in retirement by maintaining his legal practice, assisting with his family plastics business, spending time with his wife Dee Dee and visiting their two children. “I won’t be simply sitting around in my pajamas all day.” Lund joked.
