Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Health Care Support Lakeland Pantry’s Bear Cupboard Run

Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Health Care recently contributed $250 each to support the Lakeland Pantry’s Bear Cupboard Run scheduled for Saturday, July 17, starting at 9 a.m., on the Bearskin Trail, beginning in Torpy Park, Minocqua.

There will be 5K and 10K professionally timed runs, as well as a non-timed 5K walk for all age groups. A 1K Cubby Run for kids 12 and under will take place at 8:15 a.m.

“The Lakeland Pantry provides individuals and families with a dependable source of supplemental food, household and hygiene products, plus offers programs designed to improve the quality of life for those in need,” said John Winkelman, Lakeland Pantry. “We are very pleased to have the support of Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Health Care for our Bear Cupboard Run that will ultimately benefit over 1,200 registered families at the pantry and the Kids Against Hunger program.”

“Ministry Health Care is proud to partner with the pantry for this run, and further works with pantry clients to offer many valuable services on a monthly basis,” said Laurie Oungst, Vice President of Operations, Ministry Howard Young Health Care. “Clinical services such as blood pressure checks and cholesterol screenings have been provided, along with education on depression and other behavioral health services. In addition, we have been able to share information on a Medication Assistance Program that assists clients, particularly the elderly, in payment of their prescription drugs.”

“Marshfield Clinic contributes annually to the Food Pantry through monetary donations as well as food drives. This run is one way that community members can help support the Lakeland Pantry,” said Dr. Laura Nelson, Marshfield Clinic Northern Division Administrator and Medical Director. “By running or walking and improving your health, attendees will help contribute to the distribution of food and services for up to 450 families that utilize the pantry weekly.”
