Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Health Care team together to support Lakeland Loppet Nordic Ski Race

WOODRUFF—Howard Young Medical Center (HYMC) and Ministry Medical Group Clinic (both Ministry Health Care organizations), and Marshfield Clinic, recently teamed together and contributed $1,500 to support the 2009 Lakeland Loppet Nordic Ski Race, scheduled for Saturday, February 28, at Minocqua Winter Park.

The Lakeland Loppet, now in its 34th year, is one of Wisconsin’s longest running ski races and draws skiers from locations throughout the Midwest. The joint contribution will support family-orientated races for skiers of all ages, and maintenance of Winter Park’s trails and equipment.

“We feel it is important to support Winter Park as it provides a much needed outlet for physical activity in our area over the long winter months,” said Dr. Laura Nelson, Medical Director, Marshfield Clinic Northern Division. “All ages can participate in cross country skiing and other outdoor activities at Winter Park, and this helps improve the health and well being of all of us who live in the Northwoods.”

“We are appreciative of the continued support of organizations like Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Health Care,” said Keith Smith, Manager of Winter Park. “These organizations recognize the importance of community members staying active during the winter months, and having well maintained resources and opportunities in the community to do so.”

This is just one example of a community collaboration between Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Health Care. Both organizations support efforts to improve the health and well-being of the people who live in or visit our area.

“This contribution to the Lakeland Loppet is just one way of showing the community that we believe in healthy lifestyles and want to ensure that healthy activities and opportunities are available to them,” said Rebecca A. Morin, Vice President of Patient Care Services, Howard Young Health Care.

Minocqua Winter Park is a not-for-profit town park operated by the Lakeland Ski Touring Foundation that provides quality silent sport experience for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages through the protection and maintenance of their trail system.
