Howard Young Medical Center was built in 1977, through a generous grant from S. Howard Young, a New York art dealer and uncle of actress Elizabeth Taylor. The 99-bed facility opened its doors to patients in February 1977. In 1999, the hospital was named as a Top 100 Orthopedic Hospital by Health Care Information Association.
