Job Shadow

Ministry Health Care offers a personal look at health care careers through a job shadow opportunity for individuals that desire to learn more about a career in health care.  A job shadow may consist of an informational interview only or a firsthand observation only look at the daily experiences of a health care professional.  A Ministry staff member accompanies participants at all times.

Informational Job Shadow: 
Individuals that are not associated with an education institution will have the option to meet with a health care professional one on one to discuss job roles through an Informational Interview.  Informational Interviews will not involve access to patients and/or patient care areas.

Standard Job Shadow: 
Standard Job Shadow experiences are observation only and are limited to a total of 8 hours per experience and must meet the following requirements;

• Individuals must be associated with an educational program
• Eligible students must be a high school sophomore, junior, or senior, or a college student
• Orientation & health work required

Extended Job Shadow:
Extended Job Shadow experiences allow an exception to the 8 hr limit if the job shadow is a prerequisite for a health careers education program and/or the participant is enrolled in a clinician educational program.

Process to request a job shadow at Ministry Health Care:

1. Complete the application Form. Make sure you have your emergency contact and school information handy. You will need them to complete the application.
2. Health Requirements Form. All health requirements must be completed prior to start date of rotation/shadowing.
3. Complete the Computer Based Training (CBT) General Orientation
4. If you are under the age of 18, print Guardian Signature Form. Have your parent or guardian sign the form and return to Student Affiliations Coordinator.
