Volunteer drivers are at the heart of this community service. They are responsible for the delivery of hot meals to individuals enrolled in the Meals on Wheels program. Drivers pick up the meals at the hospital or Aging & Disability Resource Center and, using their own vehicles, deliver the meals directly to the homes or apartments of the meal recipients. At each stop, volunteers make a short visit and leave the meal. At the end of the delivery route, all empty containers are returned back to the hospital. Total time involved is about one hour.
Volunteers are scheduled to help according to their availability. Volunteers may help once a week, twice a month, or on an on-call basis.
Drivers are needed every business day of the week, every week of the year, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
