(APPLETON, Wis.) — Ministry Health Care (MHC), which includes Affinity Health System (AHS), and is a healthcare ministry of Ascension, has a longstanding commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate, personalized cancer care at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Mercy Medical Center and Calumet Medical Center for the residents of the Fox Valley and surrounding communities. We are proud to announce a new partnership with Green Bay Oncology (GBO) to provide cancer care services at St. Elizabeth Hospital and Mercy Medical Center beginning on February 1, and at Calumet Medical Center in mid-March.
Green Bay Oncology is Northeast Wisconsin’s largest group of certified hematologists and medical oncologists, with nine medical oncology physicians, a team of nurse practitioners, and a support staff of over 125 people. The mission of GBO is to provide the best oncology care in the Midwest and more information about GBO can be found at www.gboncology.com.
“Affinity Health System is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate, personalized cancer care in the Fox Valley and we’re excited the respected team of clinicians from Green Bay Oncology will be partnering with us in this effort,” stated Monica Hilt, Regional Vice President for Ministry Health Care’s Eastern Region.
The National Cancer Institute has designated GBO as the region’s longest participant in its renowned Clinical Oncology Research Program. The program includes clinical trials to evaluate new cancer treatment options, and identifies new ways to detect, diagnose and treat cancer. Through this program, GBO patients have access to groundbreaking new treatments, often years before anyone else. Green Bay Oncology is one of only two program participants in Wisconsin.
“Green Bay Oncology is excited about the new partnership with Affinity Health System,” said Dr. David Groteluschen, President, Green Bay Oncology. “Affinity Health System has provided high-quality medical care to patients in the Fox Cities and Chilton for many years. Green Bay Oncology looks forward to continuing this tradition with innovative value-based oncology care.”
To support the oncology partnership with GBO, a new Cancer Center is being constructed at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. The 12,000 square foot facility will offer the latest in cancer equipment and technology to support the GBO team and provide the highest levels of care to patients across the region. The project, which is expected to be completed by February 1, 2016, was supported by community members, donors, associates and clinicians.
