- In 2000, 1.5 million Wisconsin adults were reported to have one or more chronic conditions - including heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure. (Wisconsin Family Health Survey, 2000)
- Cardiovascular disease causes more deaths annually in Wisconsin than all causes of cancer, HIV/AIDS, automobile crashes, domestic abuse, and alcohol abuse combined. (Wisconsin Medical Journal 2002, volume 100, #3)
- Evidence shows that even after age 50, and even if heart disease has already developed, healthy lifestyle changes may improve the odds for a longer, healthier life. (American College of Cardiology, 2002)
