Ministry Medical Group Bariatric Surgery Program accepts MOST insurance plans.
Once you have attended an informational meeting one of our dedicated team members who specializes in insurance will call your insurance company to verify your benefit for obesity surgery and the appointments required by our program. You will be contacted shortly after attending the informational meeting and walk you through you the information she has received.
Since health insurance coverage varies with each person and employer we highly encourage you to check with your insurance carrier to see if they provide coverage for obesity surgery and the appointments that are required by our program. These required appointments are with the dietitian, psychologist, and physical therapist. In addition, you will be required to undergo a test called upper endoscopy which assures your stomach is OK prior to surgery. On occasion, some insurance companies will cover the surgery but not the required appointments.
On every insurance card, there is a toll-free customer service number to call for information regarding the benefits available under your plan. One of our team members will be happy to guide you through this process.
Self Payment Option
Occasionally patients may have an exclusion under their insurance plan that does not cover weight loss surgery. If your insurance does not cover weight loss surgery, you have the option to pay for the procedure outright. The Ministry Medical Group Bariatric Surgery Program offers competitive pricing for all available bariatric procedures. Some options for payment include CareCredit and BLIS. These programs offer several payment plans to cover the cost of procedures.
As a self-pay patient, you will not experience delays due to insurance approval or restrictions.

CareCredit for Treatment and Care
The Ministry Medical Group Bariatric Surgery Program accepts CareCredit as a means of payment. CareCredit is a healthcare credit card with a credit line for treatments and procedures. CareCredit offers minimum monthly payment options, no up-front costs, no prepayment penalties and no annual fees.

Calvin Selwyn, Jr., MD is an active BLIS surgeon. Becoming a BLIS Surgeon is a very selective process as determined exclusively by BLIS. This means that we meet very high standards of short term outcomes and long term patient success. As a result of our approval by BLIS, we are able to participate in an innovative new insurance coverage which allows us to make a commitment to our self-pay patients that should a covered complication occur within certain time frames following surgery, our patients are not responsible for the costs associated with the care of that complication. *The complication protection is exclusively part of the package price you will pay for your weight loss surgery. We are happy to provide this benefit to our patients and ease your mind and your wallet in this important decision to have a life-saving surgery.
