Ministry Medical Group Bariatric Surgery Program accepts MOST insurance plans.
Once you have attended an informational meeting one of our dedicated team members who specialized in insurance will call your insurance company to verify your benefit for obesity surgery and the appointments required by our program. She will call you shortly after attending the informational meeting and walk you through you the information she has received.
Since health insurance coverage varies with each person and employer we highly encourage you to check with your insurance carrier to see if they provide coverage for obesity surgery and the appointments that are required by our program. These required appointments are with the dietitian, the health psychologist for evaluation and testing, and the physical therapist for a fitness evaluation and a test called upper endoscopy witch assures your stomach is OK prior to any surgery. On occasion, some insurance companies will cover the surgery but not the required appointments.
On every insurance card, there is a toll-free customer service number to call for information regarding the benefits available under your plan. So one of our team members will be happy to guide you through this process.
Self Payment Option
Occasionally patients may have an exclusion under your insurance plan that does not cover weight loss surgery. If your insurance does not cover weight loss surgery, you have the option to pay for the procedure outright. Ministry Medical Group Bariatric Surgery is proud to announce they have competitive pricing for all procedures in the region. Ministry Medical Group Bariatric Surgery Program has teamed up with CareCredit and BLIS to offer you several payment plans to cover the cost of the procedures.
As a self-pay patient, you can begin the procedure as soon as you want – without having to wait for insurance approval.

Calvin Selwyn, Jr., MD is an active BLIS surgeon. Becoming a BLIS Surgeon is a very selective process as determined exclusively by BLIS. This means that we meet very high standards of short term outcomes and long term patient success. As a result of our approval by BLIS, we are able to participate in an innovative new insurance coverage which allows us to make a commitment to our self-pay patients that should a covered complication occur within certain time frames following surgery, our patients are not responsible for the costs associated with the care of that complication. *The complication protection is exclusively part of the package price you will pay for your weight loss surgery. We are happy to provide this benefit to our patients and ease your mind and your wallet in this important decision to have a life-saving surgery.
