Treatment Modalities
MILIEU THERAPY
Patients are here to gain insight and to find more effective ways of coping with the stresses that have become overwhelming to them. Staff members are available to help work through issues or problems each day outside of regularly scheduled therapies. A variety of educational packets and videos are available designed to enhance coping strategies. With a patient’s cooperation, working with the team, the patient may gain the tools needed to better cope with the issues leading to admission.
CLINICAL ROUNDS
The purpose of clinical rounds is to promote continuity of care. Both patients and treatment staff find this activity to be helpful in planning for treatment throughout the day and assessing patient progress towards treatment goals.
PSYCHOTHERAPY
If indicated, the doctor will order individual psychotherapy, which is provided by a licensed Psychologist. The Psychologist may recommend psychological testing to help the physician assess your situation and provide support for treatment and discharge planning.
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY - OT
Treatment sessions may include self-awareness groups, assertive therapy, relaxation, task group, stress management, community experiences and living skills.
THERAPEUTIC RECREATION - TR
Leisure skills education, awareness and recreational activities emphasize the development of skills to meet needs for social independence, well-being and emotional stability.
ELECTROCONVULSIVE THERAPY – ECT
This treatment is sometimes used to treat severe depression and is available on an in-patient basis. If out-patient ECT is indicated, a patient may be discharged to complete a series on an out-patient basis.
