Ministry Good Samaritan's emergency department physicians and nurses are specially trained and prepared to handle major illnesses and traumatic emergencies twenty-four hours a day. X-ray and laboratory services are available for immediate diagnosis. Critical care situations including cardiac arrest, stroke, fractures, burns, and lacerations, among others, are met with the highest standards of care.

Level III Trauma Center

Ministry Good Samaritan in Merrill is a Level III Trauma Care Facility designated by the state of Wisconsin. As part of the designation process, staff from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reviewed the hospital in an on-site visit. They commended Ministry Good Samaritan for its strong medical staff and comprehensive efforts to cross train staff in multiple roles.

Wisconsin’s integrated system of trauma identifies hospitals as trauma care facilities by using four levels. This system recognizes that all hospitals in Wisconsin play an important role in providing optimal treatment to the injured patient.

As part of Ministry Health Care, Ministry Good Samaritan is affiliated with the Level II Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center of Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield and the Accredited Chest Pain Center at Ministry Saint Clare's Hospital in Weston. This partnership ensures Ministry Good Samaritan's patients of all ages have access to the highest level of emergency and trauma care available.
