Hospice is about living each day to the fullest. It's about helping individuals dying of terminal illness live each day in a pain-free environment, with dignity and peace. As a hospice volunteer, you can be a part of this incredible journey.
Volunteers are currently needed in Wausau as well as the surrounding communities to support hospice patients and their loved ones in their homes, nursing homes, and other residential care facilities. Commitments generally run 1-4 hours per week, depending on volunteer availability and patient needs. In addition, there are currently openings for volunteers who are interested in helping with education, outreach, fundraising and clerical duties.
Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services will provide their free 5-week volunteer training at their office (2600 Stewart Avenue, Suite 160), Wednesdays March 7-April 4, 9am-noon.
This comprehensive training provides the foundation of knowledge and skill needed to provide support to patients and their families. Ongoing support and training opportunities are provided throughout a volunteer’s tenure.
There is no charge, but pre-registration is required by February 29th. To register, please call Gina Ramsey at 715-843-9006 or 1-800-398-1297.
