More than 500 former and present patients, families and staff gathered on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Wildwood Park Pavilion in Marshfield to help celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Children’s Hospital.
The reunion picnic featured a picnic meal, inflatable bouncy houses and slides, a photo booth and a clown, in addition to two radio station live remotes. While the activities were enjoyed, those attending most liked catching up with past staff members and families, and seeing how big former “NICU babies” have grown. Also shown at the event was a video, with interviews of past and present staff, and photos from the NICU.
Winners of the various prizes were: Theodore Ayres, youngest NICU grad attending, born April 5, 2014; Ryan Lee, age 27, oldest grad attending; Austin Gilles, Neillsville, longest stay in the NICU, from September 3 to February 6; Adriana Brown, Stephenson, Mich., traveled the furthest for the event; and Timothy Suchy, now age 5, lowest birth weight at one pound, 2 ounces.
