Our program consists of an educational component and a medical component to help you understand and monitor your fertility and gynecologic health.
In the educational component, you will receive professional and personalized charting instruction in the Creighton Model FertilityCare ™ System (CrMS) by a Creighton-trained practitioner. You will learn how to recognize the cyclical signs of fertility and how to chart these in a standardized and objective format. The program is based on the Ovulation Method of Natural Family Planning and has undergone extensive evaluation and research over 20 years through St. Louis University and Creighton University School of Medicine and most recently, at the Pope Paul VI Institute for the Study of Human Reproduction in Omaha, Nebraska. As a method of family planning, it is very effective in distinguishing days of fertility from days of infertility. Couples use this information to achieve or avoid pregnancy by timing intercourse accordingly. It works in complete harmony with the natural cycles of fertility, enhances a couple's relationship, and helps to strengthen marriage. Couples find that their love and respect for each other grows as their understanding and appreciation of their fertility grows. This program requires an introductory session (sometimes done as a group) and individualized follow-up sessions.
Occasionally, women or married couples may experience difficulties with their menstrual cycles and procreative health. The information contained in the charts is an essential element in the medical management of a woman's cycles. Natural Procreative Technology (NaProTECHNOLOGY) uses this valuable information to assist in the evaluation and treatment of various problems including hormone abnormalities, chronic discharges, polycystic ovarian syndrome, PMS, infertility and miscarriage, ovarian cysts, irregular bleeding, menstrual cramping, post-partum depression, etc. This involves consultation with a physician or medical provider with training in this area. This science is distinctive in that it devotes its energies to cooperating with the natural procreative system in order to correct abnormal conditions and maintain the human reproductive potential.
Because of the integral nature of the CrMS charting for the practice of NaProTECHNOLOGY, we expect that patients will complete the charting instruction while the medical assessment/treatment is proceeding. This will make the medical evaluation and management much more comprehensive and ensures the best treatment possible.
