Week 13 Updates: Why don’t you exercise?

The excuses may be endless however our presenter this evening, Traci Smet, taught us just how exercise can be made easy! “Exercise can be enjoyable,” she said. Ever think of joining a group fitness class, try Wii Fit, or exercise alongside the professionals on the fitness channel? These are just a few ways to make exercise enjoyable. You can also workout as a family or a group of friends. Not only does this hold you accountable but it also helps motivate you to stay on track with your weight loss. Another important point Traci made was getting serious about exercise. Remember that change takes time and we cannot expect to see large changes over night. We have to commit to a weekly workout schedule and plan it into our busy lives. Near the end of Traci’s presentation she showed us simple ways to work out at home with some very common household items. To name a few Traci recommended using a chair for push-ups, squats, and leg lifts. With canned foods, you can do bicep curls, triceps extensions, lateral shoulder raises, front shoulder raises, and shoulder press! Another great tip is taking the stairs to work your cardiovascular system and help work those calf muscles. Overall it is time to put all those excuses aside and get committed to a healthier, better you! To see Traci’s presentation click here and view the handout sheet click here.
