Week 7 Update:
Become resilient
This was the theme throughout Stephanie LaPlant’s discussion on Tuesday night. We have to learn to be resilient and take changes in strides. Also we have to realize that change is a process and it may take 6 to 8 months to fully commit ourselves to a new lifestyle. Stephanie introduced the several stages of change and believes that in order to master change we need to evaluate what step we are along this process. Step one was pre-contemplation, followed by contemplation. Within the contemplation step we must become aware that a problem exists and that change is needed in our lives. Step three is preparation where we make the intentions to change and then within step four we start to take action. During step four we have to learn how to modify our behavior, experiences, and the environment around us. The final step is maintenance where we work to prevent relapse and continue to look for the positives in our new lifestyle change.
Also during Stephanie’s presentation she listed the most common "sharks" that bring stress into our lives. Constant rushing, running late, over commitment, imbalanced sleep, and excessive clutter to name just a few. She explained the importance of setting boundaries of what we can all handle and un-interruptible time where we can relax and enjoy the small things in life. Overall Stephanie provided the participants with some great information about lifestyle changes. Here is a historical facts table you may find interesting. Thank you to every one for making the CWR program a success.
Food collected:
We had another great turn out at our meeting this last night. Along with the great participation in our weekly Tuesday meetings we have had an amazing amount of food collected and would like to thank everyone who has contributed. This week we collected 62.2 pounds of food. This combined with our previous totals places us at 545.4 pounds of food collected for the CWR program. We beat our previous record of 492 pounds of food collected last year. Again we would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed their canned goods. The community greatly appreciates your generosity.
