Week 4 Update:

Thank you to all of our participants that battled the snow and came to our meeting last night. If your were there than you were one of the lucky ones that got to listen to the inspiring and energetic Professor Annie Wetter, PhD. Dr. Wetter spoke to the participants about how to choose a pattern of eating habits that is based on you specifically. If you don’t like broccoli than Dr. Wetter stressed that you shouldn’t force yourself to eat it! You should design a diet and workout plan that works for you personally because if you do not love what you’re doing than you’re not going to stick with it.
So what is the magical weight loss plan that Dr. Wetter shared with everyone? Well, she announced that there is no optimal plan that works for everyone, but she did tell us how we all can lose weight and keep it off. She explained that it’s all about the calories. You have to burn more calories than you’re taking in when you eat; this is called having a "negative calorie balance."
She left everyone at the meeting with a resounding theme, "Do what works for you!" Make many small changes that you can maintain for the rest of your life and they will add up. Set smart goals for yourself and above all, stay positive. Dr. Wetter is such an asset for our community and the weight race to have, so be sure to keep reading her articles in the newsletters. Non-Perishable Food Collected
We would like to thank all our participants for the donation of canned goods. At our meeting last night we collected 76.6 lbs of food. Combined with the 306 collected in the previous weeks we have helped donate 382.6 lbs of food to our local food pantries! Please continue to donate your canned goods; it is going to a wonderful cause!

Here is a nice thank you letter from the Rosholt Food Bank volunteers. And thank you to our sponsor Team Schierl for dropping off the food donations. In photo: Sally Glennon, Team Schierl Companies delivers food items to Lee Lehrer, Rosholt food pantry attendant.
Dear Community Weight Race Teams –
Thank you from the bottom of our (almost) empty shelves! Our pantry started about 10 years (or so) ago by a Rosholt resident named Mark Zdroik. Mark and his wife Kate started the pantry out of their home, as it grew, they moved to a church, then for a few years the food was stored in the Rosholt municipal garage and most recently is residing in the basement of the Rosholt Clinic building. In the first 9 years of the pantry’s existence, they just did home deliveries and the pantry was known by word of mouth. Since the fall of 2008, we have opened our doors two days per month for people to come in and receive food. We have been amazingly blessed by the generosity of the Rosholt and surrounding communities. Our biggest contributors are the Threshermen’s Club, the Lion’s Club, Rosholt HS Booster club, Rosholt Blizzard Busters, Black Bear Archers, Rosholt School District, and many, many more. The Rosholt cub scouts do a huge food drive for us every spring and are so helpful and excited to be doing such a good deed. We serve between 5-10 families every first and third Monday of the month and that means between 200-400 pounds of food depending on the size of each family. There is a need in Rosholt and you don’t know how much your contribution means to us. Thank you- a million times- thank you!
Sincerely,
Pantry Volunteers; Jodi Otto, Kate Zdroik, Michelle Simonis, Debbie Peplinski
