Week 3 Update:

We had another great turn out at our Tuesday night meeting! Many CWR participants came to listen to our speaker Dan Kraeger, DO, Director of Point Sports Medicine Center. Dr. Kraeger did a wonderful job presenting the Benefits of Exercise to the packed room of participants. He explained that exercise improves your mood, helps you manage your weight, boosts your energy level, promotes better sleep, and combats chronic diseases. Dr. Kraeger also lectured on how exercise affects male and females as well as the different age groups. It was truly a worth while presentation! Click here to see the entire power point.

Weight Management Part 2: How much to eat for weight loss
Annie C. Wetter, PhD, Portage County CAN
Many weight loss guides tell people exactly how many calories they need to eat to lose weight. The problem with these hard numbers is that they are based on estimates of calorie needs. What’s wrong with that? Estimates are good guesses but they are still ball park numbers that might fit you exactly or they might be off by 200 (or even 400!) calories a day.(click here to read more.)

Non-Perishable Food Collected

We would like to thank all our participants for the donation of canned goods. At our meeting last night we collected 105.8 lbs of food. Combining the 105.8 with the 200.2 collected in the previous weeks we have helped donate 306 lbs of food to our local food pantries! We’ll be rotating donations collected each week to four area food banks. They are the Salvation Army, Operation Bootstrap, along with food banks in Rosholt and Amherst. You have done a great job donating thus far so keep it up guys; it’s going to a great cause!
