Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield is the first facility in central Wisconsin to perform surgery using the da Vinci® S™ Surgical System.
The da Vinci® S Surgical System, manufactured by Intuitive Surgical, is an advanced robotic system designed to expand the surgeon's capabilities, providing patients with a minimally invasive options for bariatric surgery, hysterectomies and radical prostatectomy, a treatment for prostate cancer.
The system allows surgeons to perform complex procedures using dime-sized incisions. For most patients, this minimally invasive approach, called da Vinci prostatectomy, results in significantly less pain, less blood loss, shorter recovery periods and a quicker return to normal daily activities.
"We have seen a strong and continually growing consumer demand for minimally invasive procedures," said Michael Kryda, MD, Chief Executive Officer at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
"Our goal is to make a difference in patients' lives and restore them to good health as quickly as possible."
Technological advances such as robotic surgery offer our patients state-of-the-art medical care delivered by knowledgeable experts. By enhancing surgical capabilities, da Vinci® prostatectomy is helping to improve clinical outcomes and redefine standards of care.
