For their optimal comfort, patients and families are supported in their own homes whenever possible. For those times when it is not possible for end-of-life care to be provided at home, Ministry Home Care has alternative homes specifically designed to meet the residential needs of individuals receiving hospice care.
The warm, friendly environment of the hospice home provides 24 hour care by professional staff and specially-trained volunteers, supervised by a registered nurse. Hospice care is provided just as it would be in the patient's own home, addressing the medical, emotional and spiritual needs with the expertise of the entire interdisciplinary hospice team.
Residents are encouraged to bring personal items from home to make their private room as home-like as possible. Each furnished room is professionally decorated and includes special conveniences and comforts.
Common living areas provide comfortable spaces for family members and patients to spend time relaxing, as do beautiful gardens and patio areas.
Meals are provided in the dining room or in the patient's room, and snacks are also available. Laundry services are provided.
Family members and guests are welcome to visit at all times. They are welcome to use the kitchen facilities to cook for themselves or their loved one,
and are encouraged to help themselves to the refreshments and homemade baked good that are often available. Guest accommodations are often available for family members who would like to stay at the house overnight.
