A Day of Hope and Fun for Grieving Youth
Grief is a tough thing to deal with for anyone, and can be especially unique for young people. When children are grieving, their parents are often grieving too – the challenge can come because youth and adults often grieve differently. The experienced people at Ministry Home Care – Hospice Services have worked with grieving children and families for many years, and are offering their very special Good Grief Day Camp again this year.
The special one-day event will be facilitated by Ministry’s Bereavement Coordinator, with assistance by specially-trained hospice volunteers. Open to young people aged 5-18, the campers will be divided into three age groups (5-8 years, 9-12 years, and teens). Each group will engage in activities that help them understand and share their grief and reinforce healthy coping skills – all in a fun and social atmosphere.
Good Grief Day Camp will be held at Hamus Nature Preserve in Marshfield on Wednesday, August 14, 10:30am-3:30pm. A light lunch will be provided at noon. There is no fee for participation, but pre-registration is required by August 8. Parents of younger children are encouraged to be present.
For information and pre-registration, please call Sharla, Bereavement Coordinator for Ministry Home Care, at 715-387-7052 or toll-free 1-800-397-4216.
