Celebrate the Holidays with Hospice

Ministry Home Care – Hospice provides end-of-life care to anyone who is medically eligible, regardless of their ability to pay. While Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance programs provide some funding for hospice care, many served by Ministry are under-insured or have no insurance or ability to pay. As part of their mission, Ministry will not turn anyone away due to financial difficulties.

To make this possible, the hospice team relies on important fundraisers and donations. This year, their Holiday Raffle includes a grand prize of $1,000.00 cash, several beautiful quilts, as well as a long list of prizes donated by area businesses and individuals. Tickets are available now until the drawing, which will be held on December 12 at Ministry’s Christmas Tea in Port Edwards. Raffle tickets are just $5 each, 3 for $10, 7 for $20, or 20 for $50.

Tickets may also be purchased at Nutcracker Sweets - the 19th annual hospice bake sale, where a grand spread of uniquely packaged baked goods and cookbooks will also be for sale. That event will take place Tuesday, December 8, 7am-2pm at a new location – at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Conference Room G (near the Four Seasons Cafeteria). Donations of baked goods are welcomed on December 7 in both Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield.

Everyone is invited to the free Christmas Tea at the lovely Alexander House in Port Edwards on Saturday, December 12, 1-5pm. Tea and holiday cookies will be served in the home that will be decorated for the season. Quilts made by the hospice team and volunteers will be on displayed, and the Holiday Raffle drawing will be held at 4:30pm. Some lucky winners will take those quilts home with them, as well as the other raffle prizes.
