Grieving Youth Good Grief Day Camp Offered in Marshfield
Grief may be tough to understand and deal with for anyone, and can be especially unique for young people. When children are grieving, their parents may also be grieving – and youth and adults often grieve differently. The experienced people at Ministry Home Care – Hospice Services have worked with grieving children and families for many years, and are offering their very special Good Grief Day Camp again this year.
This annual one-day event will be facilitated by Ministry’s Bereavement Coordinator, with assistance by specially-trained hospice volunteers. Open to young people aged 5-18, the campers will be divided into three age groups (approx. 5-8 years, 9-12 years, and teens). Each group will engage in activities that help them understand and share their grief and reinforce healthy coping skills – all in a fun and social atmosphere. Professional music therapist, Lisa Paulson, will offer a stimulating musical approach with the campers again this year, also.
Good Grief Day Camp will be held at Hamus Nature Preserve in Marshfield, Wednesday 14th from 10:30am-3:30pm. A light lunch is provided. There is no fee for participation, however, pre-registration is required. Parents (or another adult) of young children are encouraged to attend.
For more information and pre-registration, please call Sharla, Bereavement Coordinator for Ministry Home Care, at 715-387-7052 or toll-free 1-800-397-4216.
