Not sure what a Hospitalist is? A hospitalist by training can be an Internal Medicine/Family Practice physician or Nurse Practitioner, who specializes in caring for patients who have been hospitalized. It is commonly seen around the country, primary physicians are referring their patients to a hospitalist when their patients are sick enough to be admitted to the hospital. During the course of their hospitalization, the hospitalist and primary physician discuss together the best treatment for the patient. At discharge, the hospitalist will communicate with the primary physician to discuss additional treatment needs, help arrange follow-up, and prescribe necessary medications.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Jung, Dr. Ghuge, Dr. Labib, Dr. Nikpour and Juanita Fehrman, N.P. to the Hospitalist staff at Saint Mary’s,” said Medical Director of Hospitalist Services John Almquist, M.D. “They will be excellent additions to our staff of physicians who all play an important role in ensuring that high quality care is available around the clock, seven days a week.” Danny Lundberg, M.D. will be the local Hospitalist Medical Director who will assist the Saint Mary’s hospitalists with day to day operations.
