MINISTRY MEDICAL GROUP TO HOST ARTHRITIS EDUCATION EVENT IN WESTON

Arthritis is one of the most prevalent chronic health problems and the nation’s leading cause of disability among Americans over age 15. It limits everyday activities such as walking, dressing and bathing and affects nearly 1 in 5 adults in America.

“Arthritis as a family of disorders is made up of many different types and the treatment options vary as much as the people who suffer from this condition,” said Bruce Homa, M.D., a family medicine specialist at Ministry Medical Group in Weston.

Homa will join Registered Occupational Therapist Lori Kramer of The Diagnostic & Treatment Center, a service of Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Health Care in Weston for an informative discussion on how people can Take Control of Arthritis by learning more about it on Wednesday, March, 18 at 6 p.m. in the Saint Clare’s Hospital Conference Center in Weston.

‘Arthritis: Take Control with Knowledge” will feature informative presentation, a question and answer session and educational materials.

“Arthritis literally means “joint inflammation” and refers to more than 100 different diseases,” said Kramer. “Fortunately early diagnosis followed by appropriate treatment and physical activity can reduce the effects of arthritis.”

There is no charge for this free program, but registration is required by calling Ministry Medical Group in Weston at 715.393.3900. Participants are encouraged to use parking lot and entrance #3. Light refreshments will be available.

Kramer will also have information on a Self-Help program being offered at The Diagnostic & Treatment Center in Weston. This six week class will feature strategies for dealing with pain, stress and depression; the roles of exercise, medication and diet along with problem solving techniques as well of skills needed to take a more active role in arthritis care.
