(Rhinelander, WI) Ministry Medical Group (MMG) is pleased to announce that Calvin Selwyn, Jr., M.D., a laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon is now seeing bariatric patients the second Friday of each month at the MMG clinic located at 2251 North Shore Drive in Rhinelander.
Dr. Selwyn earned his medical degree at the University of Minnesota Medical School, and a Bachelors of Science degree at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He completed his surgical residency and chief residency at Marshfield Clinic/Saint Joseph’s Hospital, and a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery and bariatric surgery at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
“I want patients to have access to frequent convenient care in bariatrics. This ensures the best avenue to successful weight loss maintenance. My fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and Bariatric Surgery enabled me to provide the very best care possible in my area of specialty which is surgical weight loss and small incisional surgery. I perform all surgical weight loss procedures approved by the American Society of Bariatric Surgery i.e. the Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band (Lap-Band) and Gastric Bypass.”
Prior to his practice, Dr. Selwyn was assistant professor of surgery; director of surgical endoscopy and laparoscopy; in the Department of GI and Endocrine Surgery at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Dr. Selwyn has published several abstracts, as well as journal articles, book chapters and research projects, and received the SLS Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Resident Surgeon Award in 2003.
