Not sure what a Physician Assistant (PA) is? A Physician Assistant is a highly skilled health care professional who practice medicine with physician supervision. They can perform physical exams and histories. Order and interpret diagnostic tests and studies. Diagnose and treat common medical problems. Prescribe medications and therapies. Provide patient education and counseling. Physician Assistants practice in most health care settings, and in every medical and surgical specialty. Upon graduation from an accredited PA program, candidates for the profession must sit for the certifying examination developed by the National Board of Medical Examiners. Wisconsin requires the candidate to pass this examination prior to licensure as a PA.
DeMelle received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse/Gunderson Lutheran Medical Foundation and Mayo School of Health Sciences. He is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Prior to joining Ministry Medical Group, DeMelle practiced as a PA with Marshfield Clinic and Advance Care Providers. DeMelle has experience working in Urgent Care, Primary Care and Urology.
“I believe in preventing chronic disease by promoting healthy lifestyle choices.” said DeMelle. “When evaluation and treatment is required I like to provide patients with evidence based options through thorough patient education that allows them to participate in their own care.”
In his spare time, DeMelle likes all the outdoor activities the Northwoods has to offer including hunting, fishing, cross-country skiing, water skiing and mountain biking. He also enjoys a good fiction book and Green Bay Packer football.
