Team Challenge

Take a picture and post it to Facebook or send it to Traci Smet at traci.smet@ministryhealth.org. Challenges expire March 14th at midnight!

Team: It is always important to warm-up, head-to-toe before engaging in physical activities. The right kind of stretch can loosen your body at the same time! Starting (1) with your legs, do your best to touch your knees to your chin. Try alternating legs! For a good warm-up do this ten times. Next (2), for your arms, stick your thumbs under your armpits and move your elbows up and down. Do this three times on each side. Finally, it is also important to warm-up your vocal cords for the day! (3) Grab the skin around your Adam’s apple and wiggle it from side-to-side while making guttural noises. Once you have put all three of these warm-up activities together, you’ll be ready to face the day! Take a picture of you and your team performing these exercises to get 10 points.

Individual: Fashion show!!! Show us what you wear when you workout! You’ll be rewarded 2 points for every outfit you show us.

Presentation Review:

Overcoming Obstacles to Fitness
Anytime Fitness Manager Shane Meyer spoke about obstacles and excuses this past Tuesday. He discovered his passion for helping others when he became a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. Shane discussed how everyone comes across obstacles when reaching for their fitness goals. The two types of obstacles Shane talked about were physical and mental obstacles. Physical obstacles might include injury, in which case individuals need to find an alternative exercise method. Another obstacle would be mental, which are only overcome when you change your mindset. Changing your portion sizes is a good example of overcoming a mental obstacle.

Setbacks are also common when it comes to achieving your fitness goals. Setbacks can range from injuries to a job loss. It is important not to dwell on your setback, but to learn from it. Fitness is a lifetime goal. It is something that will take time to achieve; you will not be able to reach it overnight or in one month. Let your setbacks and obstacles be empowering, you will feel and look great once you find the strength to overcome them. See the full presentation by Shane here.
